How do I mount the camera in my vehicle?

You have two options for setting up the GoPro in your vehicle. Use the suction cup and attach the mount either to the passenger side of the car's windshield or, if equipped, glass roof/sunroof. Once securely in place, adjust the gooseneck arm by bending and twisting it until the camera is correctly pointed at your vehicle's infotainment screen.

After mounting the GoPro, it's essential to check the view in the GoPro app to make sure your video is clear and the full screen of your car's infotainment system is visible.

Important: If your study involves a mobile phone, please ensure it is also in view. 

Verify the camera is aligned accordingly to capture the infotainment area properly. The picture below illustrates the ideal view. 

Try out a couple of common driving motions to make sure your view and movements are not obstructed. Move the mount to a more secure location if needed. This way, you can be certain that your GoPro will record the interactions with the infotainment system seamlessly.

Tips for the GoPro Mounting Accessories

Adjusting the mount

We ship the camera with two gooseneck mounts connected together and one suction cup mount. Depending on your car's design, you may need to remove one of the goosenecks to make it shorter. To do this, follow the steps below. You can do the same for any of the connections, if needed.

1. Squeeze the end tabs of one of the connections.

   

2. After squeezing the tabs, slide them through the locking mechanism.

Attaching the suction cup to a surface

Secure the suction cup to the windshield, sunroof, glass roof, or glossy/smooth interior trim pieces. It may be helpful to clean the surface and suction cup prior to attaching.

1. Place the suction cup firmly on a clean, smooth surface.

   

2. Use the Press button to apply suction.

   

3. Push the lever down to firmly attach the suction cup.

   

 

Removing the suction cup from a surface

This is similar to attaching the suction cup, but in reverse — helpful for relocating the mount in the vehicle are removing it altogether.

1. Flip the lever up.
   
   

   

2. Gently tug on the flap until the suction is released.
   
   

   

You can now relocate or remove your camera mount!
