How do I factory reset my GoPro?

If other troubleshooting steps have failed to resolve the GoPro's connection issue, it may be necessary to perform a factory reset on the GoPro.

Follow these steps to reset the GoPro back to factory settings. 

  1. On the GoPro device, swipe down on the touch screen and select Preferences.

  2. Scroll down to Reset and select Factory Reset > Confirm.

  3. When the GoPro is finished resetting, restart it and go through the initial setup again.

  4. Open the GoPro Quik app on your mobile phone and select the camera icon in the bottom right corner. Select Continue as Guest and then select Maybe Later.

  5. Select the second camera icon with the plus symbol in the top right corner. The GoPro searches for the camera.

  6. If the GoPro doesn't detect it right away, it asks the name of the camera. Enter Hero 8 Black.

  7. Once the camera is detected, continue to select Next (you can leave the default name as is) until the Control Your Camera screen displays.

  8. Select Enable Preview.

  9. When the preview displays, close the GoPro Quik app completely using the multitask menu and then try connecting to Pulse Labs again.
