Below, you'll find answers to the most common questions new panelists have about the practice test.
1. Which devices can I use for the practice test?
You can use either a smart device (like a smart speaker) or a smartphone. If you’re using a smart device already enabled with Alexa or Google Assistant, you’re good to go! If you’re using an Android phone, you can use the built-in Google Assistant. If you’re using an iPhone, you can download the Alexa or Google Assistant app.
2. Why can’t I connect to the Chrome extension?
There’s a few reasons why this could be happening. Thankfully, they’re all quick fixes! This article will walk you through how to successfully connect to the extension.
3. Do I need to be successful when completing the practice test tasks?
Nope! You may not be able to successfully complete some of the tasks using your device. All that we ask is that you do your best to attempt them. If you’re unable to successfully complete a task, it’s a great opportunity for you to provide feedback on what didn’t go well.
4. How do I rate tasks?
After you attempt all of the tasks and click the green “I’m done” button, you’ll be taken to the transcript review page. On the left side of the transcript, hover your mouse to the right of where you attempted the task. This will bring up the star icon. Click the star icon to rate the task. 5. Why should I annotate? How can I do it?
Annotating is a way for you to provide additional feedback about specific moments during your interaction with the voice app. It’s also how you tell us when the voice app misunderstood what you said.
To annotate, hover your mouse to the right of what you want to add a note to in the transcript. This will bring up the annotate icon which looks like a sticky note with a plus sign on it. Click the annotate icon to add a note. For more details on annotating, click here.
6. What should I write in the survey at the end of the test?
At Pulse Labs, we’re looking for panelists who provide thoughtful and critical feedback about their experience like what went right, what went wrong, etc. We recommend writing at least 1-2 sentences for each response, although more is always welcome!
7. Can I talk to someone from your support team?
Yes, we’re always happy to chat! Click the blue chat bubble in the bottom-right corner of our website to connect with our team. If you prefer email, you can reach us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
